Description:
“Elevated Black Levels” refers to when what is intended to be a ‘true black’ image appears dark gray.
Impact:
Elevated black levels will create an offset in the representation of colors on-screen and have a large negative impact on the customer experience.

Setup black levels are above 15.0 IRE. This will make 'true blacks' appear a lighter gray and have a large negative impact on the viewing experience. |
How to Prevent:
Set base black levels at 7.5 IRE.
Solution:
Check the rasterizer and ensure base black levels start at 7.5 IRE.
