Dirt/Stain/Scratch | |
Display Text | Dirt/Stain/Scratch |
Description | "Dirt/Stain/Scratch" refers to various anomalies in content shot on film resulting from debris/digs that exist either in the film print (positive/black) or in the negative (negative/white). If a dig is in the emulsion, it may show up as a colored scratch (instead of black/white). |
Impact | Dirt/Stains/Scratches are distracting to the member experience. While sometimes inherent to archival/stock footage or used to create an intentional “filmic” look, when not intended, these types of film anomalies are inconsistent with the “clean” look most have come to associate with digital camera capture. |
