Extraneous Content - Music

"Extraneous Music" is an additional song or ambient music present during a program. Music is disruptive and does not, in context, need to be present.

Extraneous Music impacts the Content Quality of the asset. The customer experience is adversely affected if Extraneous Music occurs during a dialogue-heavy scene, at levels that obscure dialogue, or if the music communicates an emotional tone that is antithetical to the core emotion of the scene. Possibly creative intent on the part of the producer. Any derivatives of this asset will contain extraneous music.

Severity Structure:

Music is present in program under characters speaking. Presence doesn't seem to be creative intent.

Music plays over logos (Netflix Ident) or over shots of characters talking and does not seem to be of creative intent.

How to Prevent:

Keep temp tracks completely separate from final tracks, and lock audio tracks that are not being worked on in order to avoid cross-contaminating tracks. Review audio to picture to catch out of place or duplicated elements.

Extraneous music must be removed and replaced with the audio that was meant to be in the affected scene.
