Luminance - Loss of Detail in Low Levels
Loss of Detail in Low Levels is the adverse effect in which the image luminance levels are "crushed" to black, causing dark portions of the image to solidify in value.
Image quality is degraded by the loss of detail, negatively impacting the customer experience and technical soundness of program, although sometimes creative intent.
Substantial portions of the image have minimal detail due to the image luminance levels being "crushed".
How to Prevent:
Set base black levels at 7.5 IRE.
Verify that the timing is consistent across multiple shots.
Please review and verify if creative intent, otherwise may be a conformance issue, Full/Legal Range conversion issue, or the color timing did not render in the sequence to derive the master.
