Mono Audio | |
Display Text | Mono Audio |
Description | "Mono Audio" refers to the duplication of an audio track, eliminating any stereo or surround spatial separation/panning. |
Impact | Any missing spatial separation and/or panning effect gives the member an incomplete and incorrect experience. It will not fully reflect the creatively intended mix aligned with on-screen action. |
Severity Assessment Guidance | |
FYI | N/A |
Issue | Audio mix does not contain any stereo or surround panning between channels. Levels are identical across multiple/all channels through a scene/program where contextual cues would clearly indicate there should be at least some fluctuation. Mono audio is also clearly visible on a phase scope, where the audio signal exhibits zero phasing or panning between stereo pairs. |

How to Prevent |
Label tracks correctly in metadata. Be sure to do a proper mixdown whenever combining channels (versus simply duplicating tracks). Verify bussing when exporting. |
How to Fix | Replace mix to ensure spatial separation and panning are maintained, and redeliver. |
