Welcome to the Netflix Partner Help Center. Have a question or need help with an issue? Send us a ticket and we'll help you to a resolution.

To make Netflix delivery easier, we have developed a pipeline that will automatically derive the 2.0, 5.1, and / or Atmos BWAV ADM from the IMF delivery. These derivatives are created using the Dolby Encoding Engine - the same Dolby Atmos® Renderer used at sound facilities. Our goal is to support our partners through production life cycles:

  1. Automatically version manage audio sources through creative changes, QC fixes, etc.
  2. Limit onboarding needs for external partners in order to upload derived audio files.
  3. Reduce burden to track the printmaster deliverables by internal and external partners.

| GENERATION AND DELIVERY AUDIO PIPELINE

We follow Netflix’s extraction logic for audio sources if none are available to drive a needed mixdown, otherwise the delivered source is always extracted as the Creatively Intended source

| FAQ

How does this Impact my delivery?

The following are optional to deliver to Content Hub:

  • Atmos ADM BWAV / 5.1 / 2.0 - Near Field Printmaster

Still need to deliver:

  • To Content Hub: Other Atmos / 5.1 / 2.0 mixes, for example:
    • M&E, DME, Theatrical
  • To the IMF Mastering Partner: The intended Final Print Master(s)

What Is the generated specification & naming convention?

The output files are produced to these specifications:

  • Uncompressed LPCM .WAV
  • 24-bit little endian Bit Depth
  • 48 KHz Sample Rate
  • Standard Channel Ordering: L/R/C/Lfe/LS/Rs, Stereo L/R, Atmos Bed & Objects ordering
  • Single Track, Interleaved Channels1

Naming convention is automatically generated from delivery contexts and media types:

{packageId}_{project_title}_{movieType}_{mix_format}_{mix_field}_{channel_count}_{sample_rate}_{bit_depth}_{fps_rate}_{package_tags}_{generated_date}.wav

Can I Still Upload The Printmasters Separately From The IMF?

Yes! If there ever is a time where you prefer to upload the Printmasters and Atmos separately from the IMF delivery, feel free to do so and notify your Netflix touchpoint.

Will Netflix Upmix?

Netflix does not upmix any deliverables, i.e. 2.0 -> 5.1; The delivered mix is the source of truth and is used as the hero asset; we do downmix in the standard fold down methods if we do not take delivery of that mix, i.e. 5.1 -> 2.0.

1Netflix Specification requires discrete for vendor delivery. Interleaved is used to limit complexity of the pipeline.
