Color Grading: Color Space and Transfer Function

NAM, GAM and VDM assets require properly defined color space and transfer function metadata. See the below definitions and examples for guidance on proper metadata assignment.

Colorspace: Display

  • The color space of the display on which the content was creatively approved.
    • e.g. Rec. 709, P3-D65, P3-DCI, etc.

Transfer Function: Display

  • The transfer function of the display on which the content was creatively approved.
    • e.g. Gamma 2.4 / BT.1886, PQ / ST.2084, Gamma 2.6 / DCI, etc.

Colorspace: Scene/Working

  • The color space of the images during the working stages of post-production
    • e.g. DragonColor2, S-Gamut3.cine, ACES, etc.

Transfer Function: Scene/Working

  • The transfer function of the images during the working stages of post-production
    • e.g. RedLogFilm, S-Log3, Linear, etc.
