Day Completeness confirms Netflix is in possession of all the footage shot on a given day. Before repurposing all remaining local storage, it’s important to make sure Netflix has everything you shot. And that the archive is in a good state.
This step is especially important in a workflow where Content Hub is your only archival copy. Double checking completeness will completely avoid the possibility of media loss. Designate someone in the production (usually on the post team) to have the final say on final storage clearance decisions.
Netflix is not responsible for incomplete media. We also can’t detect missing footage that wasn’t uploaded. It is your responsibility to make sure that everything that was shot actually made it to Netflix.
To ensure day completeness you can follow these steps:
- If there are issues, evaluate them. When verification warnings pop up, determine whether the issue requires a redelivery. If it does, fix it and reupload from scratch (e.g., missing files, skipped cards, naming mismatches). (see troubleshooting guide).
- Confirm delivery of all rolls - On the footage ingest detail pages, make sure all media from the shoot day is archived and verified. If there were several submissions for the same shoot day, ensure that you check across all of them.
Once you confirm everything is in Content Hub, nothing needs redelivery and media is complete you can erase remaining local copies
⚠️ Retain backups until you make sure all footage from the day was delivered - Do not clear all remaining local copies from your storage until you’ve performed this final check.
How can you make sure all your footage is archived?
There are various ways in which you can confirm that all footage from the day is properly archived. We recommend you do this at the roll level.
Emails
When your media completes archiving to the Netflix Cloud Storage, you will receive an Archive Complete email. It’s broken down by roll, including verification status, size and number of clips. We compare each roll in our cloud against the corresponding on-set manifest (ASC MHL) included in the upload. If a roll fails verification it will have a warning status and it will also include a description. Remember every upload has a unique archive email. We don’t aggregate the data across submissions.
These are the possible statuses:
- Green Check - Archive Complete and verification against on-set manifest passed.
- Yellow Warning -Archive failed due to verification issues. You must review, and fix it (if necessary) by starting a new upload.

These emails are great to track per-upload progress, but it gets harder when there are several submissions in the same day.
Content Hub Footage Ingest Page
To look across multiple submissions, the footage ingest page in Content Hub allows you to have a better overview with the ability to quickly drill into a specific submission, and view detailed information about it, including any verification issues.

You can also use the filter or search function to find a specific submission or to focus on all submissions from a single day (see how to use the filters)
Figure C
Once you apply the filters, you can open any submission, taking you to the details page. And don’t worry about losing the filters. You can always hit the back button and they will remain the same.
Figure D
On the submission details page you will see a breakdown of each roll, and details about potential issues.

Next you will want to confirm the status in the Archive Column. This indicates whether your media made it into the archive and its health. Possible statuses are:
- Green Check - Archive Complete and verification passed.
- Yellow Check - We couldn’t find a manifest to compare against, or extra files were found. Please check the issue and decide if you will need to reupload your media.
- Red Exclamation Point - There were verification issues, either missing files or checksum mismatches.
If any kind of verification issue arises, you must review and check if a fix is necessary. If so, redeliver starting a new upload.

You can learn more about errors by clicking on the row. This will bring up the sidebar to view more details.

When there are issues, you’ll see a See Details button. Go into it to view a breakdown of what happened. Some actions are suggested. If you have questions you can see our troubleshooting guide. Or contact support.

Download A Report From Media Library
Another method to check all rolls across different submissions is the media library. Once there you can filter the library to match the shoot day’s production information. These include block, unit, date, and more.
You can also choose to generate a report containing the filtered footage (or all of it!) should you need to send it to a third party for confirmation, or for personal use. Please note that canceled or incomplete rolls will show up. You’ll see them both in the media library and your reports.
Here are some tips to shortcut this process:
Click on the ‘view rolls’ or ‘view clips’ buttons on the Footage Ingest pages or emails. This will preselect all filters in the library using the metadata from the upload. If you want to change any of those filters, you can do so once in the library.

- You can also start the filtering from scratch in the library. Learn more about filter and navigating the Media Library here.
Figure J
- Make sure that your filters actually cover the entire shoot day. Including all other metadata values like unit or block. If a roll is missing or extra it will likely have to do with how the uploader tagged the upload. If after filtering the page you still can’t see an asset, reach out for support.
- Never download your report before the archive process is finished. Rolls will surface in the media library as soon as the Footage ingest app detects them.
- Pay extra attention to the Checksum verification Column in your report. This column will tell you if the roll is both archived AND verified. If statuses are not either “passed” or “failed”, it means that they didn’t reach the archive or the weren’t verified. In either case you will need to redeliver.

Generating Your Report
With your rolls filtered in the Media Library, click Download Report.
Figure L
From drop down, select Download All Results. Don’t worry this will still generate a report based on your filtered results.
Figure M
Choose your preferred location to save the report and click Save.

Sample Report
When you download a report it will contain the following metadata
- Asset ID
- Asset Type
- Name
- Shoot Day
- Shoot Date
- Size in Bytes
- Number of Files
- Checksum Verification Status
- Number of Clips
- Media Inspection Status
The Checksum Verification Status column is the most important for ensuring day completeness. If the status is passed all of your rolls have passed verification and are in the Netflix Cloud. If the status is failed you will want to confirm the reason for the failure and determine if you need to reupload.
You can view a sample report here.
Remember at the end of the day production is fully responsible for delivering all expected footage, verifying day completeness, and retaining sufficient backups until archive is complete. Final confirmation that the day is complete must come from your production team.
