Lock Event List While Editing

You might notice while you're watching your video back, the Events panel keeps moving. Let's learn how to lock the Events panel so you can type and watch the video at the same time. Follow these steps:

  1. Select Settings (top-right)
  2. Select General (second tab)
  3. Select Lock Event While Editing (under Events)
  4. Select Save

💡 Unselect “Select current event when video is paused” to prevent the video from jumping to the playhead event in the Timeline when paused.

Note: The lock works only while you’re actively editing the event. If focus shifts elsewhere, the list follows the playhead as usual.

Helpful Event Keyboard Shortcuts

Note: These shortcuts are not assigned by default. You must assign these shortcuts for them to work.

Shortcut What it does When to use it
Scroll to Active Event Centers the active event in the list When you’ve scrolled away from your event
Start Editing Move the focus to the event When you want to start typing without using the mouse
Stop Editing Moves the focus out of the event When you want to let the list follow playback again
Seek to Event Start Jumps to the beginning of the event When you want to quickly re-review your segment
Seek to Event End Jumps to the end of the event When you want to check how your event finishes
Select Event at Playhead Activates the nearest event to the playhead

When you delete an event, the playhead stays put, and the event panel becomes inactive. Use this to quickly refocus when you're ready to edit the next event.
