Getting Started

To begin, select Start in the top right corner of the screen. General Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts are now accessible from the Settings menu (gear icon).

Keyboard Shortcuts

New keyboard shortcuts have been designed to speed up your workflow. When you first open Originator Studio, navigate to Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts to review and configure your setup. You can also import your existing shortcut configuration from Authoring Tool.

Finding References

References have moved to a dedicated location. Select the book icon to access Show Guides, Task Instructions, KNP, and other resources.

In-App Support

Select the support icon to:

• Report technical issues

• Access in-app learning guidance

• Stay up to date with the latest improvements via the What's New section

Customizable Workspace

Your workspace is now fully customizable. Panes can be grabbed, stretched, and minimized in all four directions to suit your workflow. Font size can also be adjusted. You can swap reference columns and choose from different event layout options to focus on what matters most.

Enhanced Timeline

The timeline has been improved for more precise editing:

  • Resize the timeline as needed
  • Zoom in much closer for frame-level accuracy
  • Dialogue is separated by character for better visibility

Events

In the Events panel, you can choose which columns to display. You can view both the Reference and DubScript columns side by side, or focus only on the DubScript column. Use the dropdown in the Reference column to select the source you'd like to view, only available sources will appear in the list.

Character List

Pre-populated character lists are available for reference as you author your DubScript. You can also update localized character names and add notes. When working on a full season, your updates carry over automatically from one episode to the next.

Spelling & Grammar Checks

Originator Studio includes in-app spelling and grammar checks for over 20 languages, with more to come. Errors are highlighted automatically as you work, with suggested corrections available inline.

KNP and Sensitive Terms

KNP and sensitive terms are highlighted inline throughout your DubScript. Hovering over a highlighted term surfaces more details and a direct link to the Terminology Tool, so you can quickly reference the right information.

Snapshots

Snapshots let you save a point-in-time copy of your work for review or reference:

1. Open the Actions menu and select Create Snapshot

2. Enter a name and select Create to save your progress

3. To view a snapshot, open the dropdown in the Reference column, select Load Snapshot, and choose the version you'd like to review

Issue Navigator and Submission

The Issue Navigator is located at the top left of the workspace and displays three types of indicators: Blockers (must be resolved before submitting), Warnings (recommended to review), and Recommendations (informational suggestions for quality improvement). Click the icons to open the Events panel, use the dropdown to filter by issue type, and select any issue to jump directly to the relevant event, the counter updates automatically as you resolve each one.

If blockers are present, the Done button will be disabled. Hover over it to see what's preventing submission, then use the Issue Navigator to clear each blocker.

Important: Once you click Done, you permanently lose editing access to the project. Make sure all your work is final before submitting.

Conformance

Conformance is a new feature that helps you update your DubScript when a new version of the dialogue list becomes available.

Instead of starting over, Conformance helps realign your existing DubScript events with the updated dialogue list. Originator Studio automatically matches events when possible and guides you through reviewing anything that changed.

During Conformance, you can:

  • Align your current DubScript events to the new dialogue list
  • Identify new, updated, and removed events
  • Add placeholders for new events
  • Review flagged changes before applying them
  • Finish the process and continue working on your DubScript

For detailed instructions, refer to the Conformance - Originator Studio article.
