🔍 What is Originator Studio?

The authoring tool for:

  • Dialogue Lists (DL)
  • Pivot Language Dialogue Lists (PLDL)

The overall workflow: Author > Proofread > QC (Quality Control)

🧰 Authoring View 

A task is comprised of 4 parts:

Info and Navigation, Events, Video Player, and Timeline. 

 

In the following section, parts of the tool will be displayed and labeled with letters. The tables below it explain the corresponding feature and purpose.

 

Info and Navigation

Task information and navigation give you a general overview of the task and helpful resources.

Letter Feature Purpose
A Task Info Title info and metadata
B Start/Done Press to Start and “Done” to submit.
C Save States Save status icons. The project is auto-saved every 5 seconds
D References  Reference Materials
E Characters Add, edit, remove speakers
F Support Learning Resources and Support Ticket Submission
G Settings Keyboard Shortcuts, Display and Feedback

 

 

Video Player

The Video player will display the latest video cut for you to author or proofread.

Letter Feature Purpose
H Cut Selector Pick a video version to compare (not conform).
I (Un)Mute Volume control. Click the icon to (un)mute.
J Loop Auto-loop events.
K Audio Selector Available subtitles, and audio. Switch between Transcript and Translation for PLDL.
L Open in Second Tab For working on 2 screens (1 window for video and 1 window for editing)
M Full Screen Video opens in full-screen

 

 

Events

This is where you will add characters and dialogue events.

Letter Feature Purpose
N Filters Show events by tags.
O Display Customize event display
P Find Search text (No replace option yet)
Q Actions Jump to, select event ranges, or import/export. 
R Play from Start Manual replay
S Split/Merge Split and merge events

 

✨ Assistive Features

Assistive features help you work faster while you're in the Events Panel.

Feature What it Helps With  
Auto Speech Recognition (ASR) Pre-fills the event with transcription and timing Languages: de, en, es, es-es, fr, it, ja, ko, pl, pt-BR, sv, th, tr.
Translation Ideas Insert, edit, or flag ideas
Spellcheck

Turn on spellcheck by clicking the "A" icon.

Click any highlighted word to see spelling suggestions.

KNP Pop-Up Hover over the blue highlighted item to see KNP term.
Word Level Annotation Highlight words, use keyboard shortcut, and annotate

 


 

Timeline

The timeline shows the audio visually so you can sync events with it easily.

Letter Feature Purpose
T Scroll/Zoom Easily zoom in on the waveform.
U Shot Change Visual markers for scene shifts.
V Playhead Visual marker for current timecode

 


 

📝 Proofreading View

The task looks the same for Proofreading, except when changes are made: 

  • Pink highlights for all changes
  • Toggle “Show Edits” to view your previous changes.

 


 

⚙️ Settings

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Customize or clear
  • Import/export (COMING SOON)

Display

  • Options for fixed playhead & scroll
